Pamela Lester, RN, BSN, NCQA PCMH CCE is the Clinical Project Manager with the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME). She has worked in public health and health care almost continuously since 2006. Pam received her RN from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa in 1998 and BSN from Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines in 2009. She became a Certified Health Coach in 2010 and received her National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home Certified Content Expert (NCQA PCMH CCE) in 2012. Most of her work has focused on quality improvement, including serving as a health coach for patients with chronic disease and lead a patient-centered medical home learning collaborative with practice facilitation with FQHCs in the state of Iowa. Her work in the community spans program work for the Polk County Health Department, Mercy Des Moines and Wellmark BCBS as a Complex Case Manager where she coordinated interventions and assistance for both the member and their family in line with the clinician’s treatment plan. For Wellmark she also provided one-on-one support for complex cases/diagnoses, such as a serious illness, surgery, or a transplant, provided education and support on conditions and self-management and facilitated transitions from inpatient to outpatient or ambulatory care settings. Pam’s current role at IME, is to manage the Medicaid health home program that enables providers to offer additional services for members with specific chronic conditions. Other activities have included serving as the former President and Speakers Bureau Coordinator of the Ovarian Cancer Coalition: Iowa Division, Co-Chair of the Central Iowa Tobacco Free Coalition, and Training Officer and Assistant Chief EMS for Pleasantville, Iowa.
