Nicole Schechter, Psy.D. earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in 2013. She completed a one-year internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. She then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship specializing in rehabilitation psychology at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is now an assistant professor in that department. Clinically, Dr. Schechter specializes in the psychological and cognitive evaluation and therapeutic intervention for emotional adjustment and health behavior change with those with chronic conditions, including spinal cord injury/dysfunction and chronic pain. She directs the Patient Engagement Training program at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, a program designed to teach health care providers principles and skills that improve communication and inspire health behavior change.
