Brad Farmer is the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Acadiana Area Human Services District (AAHSD) in Lafayette, Louisiana and has approximately thirty-three years of professional experience. AAHSD provides substance abuse, mental health, and developmental disabilities services to individuals (adults and children/adolescents) and families within a seven-parish area. Through direct service and contract providers, AAHSD serves approximately 40,000 persons per year.
AAHSD has received and maintained the highest level of accreditation by CARF International through four surveys in the areas of Behavioral Health and Employment & Community Services. In October 2022 AAHSD received a four-year CCBHC-PDI grant from SAMHSA to transform its service delivery system into a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. In October 2023, AAHSD was surveyed by CARF International and was the first organization in the country to earn accreditation as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic.
Brad has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana Monroe) in psychology and substance abuse counseling and maintains a professional credential as a Licensed Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor. He has also earned an MBA in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University.
